Hybrid Launches Bi-fuel Hybrid Solution for Oil & Gas sector

Hybrid Energy has launched a new energy station designed to provide efficient power to pump-jacks in the oil & gas industry.

A pumpjack or nodding donkey is the overground drive for a reciprocating piston pump in an oil well. It is used to mechanically lift liquid out of the well if there is not enough bottom hole pressure for the liquid to flow all the way to the surface. The arrangement is commonly used for onshore wells producing little oil. Pump-jacks are common in oil-rich areas of the USA and Canada.

The bi-fuel hybrid solution offers users the opportunity to substitute up to 80% of diesel with gas. The gas quality is not critical and the system can handle wellhead gas, natural gas, biogas, propane or LPG. Hybrids innovative design includes efficient diesel generator coupled to a battery and variable speed drive inverter. Energy is supplied from the battery as the primary energy source to drive the pump and the battery is recharged from energy generated in the down-stroke of the pumping cycle. When the battery is discharged the engine starts and recharges. The system can also integrate efficient solar power and operate on 100% renewable resources.
